Teyras de Grandval

The Estate

A tale of passion

Teyras de Grandval was born in 2023 with the acquisition of Domaine Jaulin Plaisantin by Anatole de La Brosse, owner and operator of Domaine des Closiers since 2019.
Teyras de Grandval means the lands of the great valleys. Although it is of Auvergne origin, this name perfectly echoes the landscapes of Cravant-les-Côteaux, where it is located. Anatole therefore borrowed this name from his family, which bears both surnames.

The estate is located in Cravant-Les-Côteaux, one of the iconic villages of the Chinon appellation.
The estate extends over 17 hectares of vines mainly located on the Cravant hillside. Approximately 16 hectares are planted with Cabernet Franc and one hectare with chenin.

“The objective is to make Teyras de Grandval one of the flagship domains of the Chinon appellation. We work, as we did in Parnay, while respecting the differences in terroirs to preserve the typicity of the appellation.”
Anatole de La Brosse, owner
The soil is mainly clay-siliceous and clay-limestone of millarges on the hillsides and clay-siliceous, clay-sandy in the plain. The hillside faces south and south-east.

“Nos parcelles font partie des plus belles de l’appellation. Elles sont toutes situées sur le coteau et se déploient principalement sur la commune de Parnay ainsi que Turquant, Souzay-Champigny et Dampierre.”

Wine-making as an art

For Anatole, wine is an art. You never make a perfect copy but you are always looking for excellence, a quest for the absolute.
